On May 22, 2026, Assoc. Prof. Dr.
Anchana Suksomjit, Deputy Dean for
Research and Development, Graduate
School, collaborated with the Center for
Quality of Life Development and Senior
Citizen Promotion, Surat Thani
Municipality, to organize the "Peer
Support: Cybersecurity Awareness for
Senior Citizens" activity. This
initiative aimed to enhance knowledge
and skills in protecting senior citizens
from online threats, focusing on
participatory learning and mutual
support within the group. The project
was funded by the National Research
Council of Thailand
(NRCT).
The activity included
education on common cybersecurity
threats such as telephone scams, sending
fake links, and impersonation of
government or financial institution
officials, as well as guidelines for
safe mobile phone and social media use.
It also provided opportunities for
senior citizens to share experiences,
learn from real-life situations, and
practice verifying information before
believing or sharing it.
This
activity was conducted under the
"peer support" concept,
encouraging digitally savvy senior
citizens to share their knowledge with
their peers in the community, creating a
collaborative learning network, reducing
the risk of becoming victims of online
fraud, and building confidence in using
technology in daily
life.
This activity reflects
the collaboration between local
authorities, public health personnel,
community leaders, and the public
sector. To promote the quality of life
for senior citizens, enabling them to
live safely and effectively in a digital
society.
These activities align
with the Sustainable Development Goals
(SDGs) as follows:
SDG 3: Good
Health and Well-being
Promoting
the social and mental well-being of
senior citizens, reducing stress and the
impact of online fraud, and building
confidence in living in the digital
age.
SDG 4: Quality
Education
Supporting lifelong
learning for senior citizens through
participatory learning processes and
knowledge sharing among peers in the
community.
SDG 10: Reduced
Inequalities
Helping to bridge
the gap in access to and use of
information technology for senior
citizens, enabling them to access
information and digital services safely
and equally.
SDG 11: Sustainable
Cities and Communities
Creating
learning communities and digital safety,
promoting the participation of senior
citizens in developing strong and
sustainable communities.
SDG 17:
Partnerships for the

collaboration between local authorities,
public health personnel, and the public
