This activity was held
under a research project funded by the
National Research Council of Thailand
(NRCT). The objective was to develop an
online learning system that could meet
the career needs of older adults, as
well as foster skills necessary for
income generation and community
participation.
This focus group
discussion aimed to identify effective,
sustainable, and practical learning
mechanisms for both academic and social
applications, aligning with several
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),
particularly those related to developing
the potential of older adults, promoting
equality, and expanding career
opportunities, as follows:
SDG 4:
Quality Education: This project focused
on developing an online learning system
that meets the career needs of older
adults. Support lifelong learning and
develop essential skills for entering
the digital labor market.
SDG 8:
Decent Work and Economic Growth:
Developing a job analysis and placement
system for older adults will help create
decent income opportunities and promote
effective employment for older
workers.
SDG 10: Reduced
Inequalities: Designing systems to
provide older adults with greater equal
access to career opportunities,
narrowing the digital and economic
divide between generations, and ensuring
equal access to career resources and new
skills.
SDG 3: Good Health and
Well-being: Having decent work and
social participation improves the
physical and mental well-being of older
adults, reduces isolation, and promotes
self-worth.
SDG 17: Partnerships
for the Goals: This project, a
collaboration between academic
institutions and the National Research
Council of Thailand, aims to strengthen
policy and research collaboration to
support an aging society and support the
development of practical social
innovations at the community and public
levels.
