Strategic Training for Global Crisis
Management! Army War College Provides
Intensive Training to CONNEXT CEOs on
Responding to the US-Iran Conflict, a
Crucial Issue for the Thai
Economy.
On March 12th, Major
General Kiatchai Opaso, Commander of the
Army War College, presided over and
delivered a special lecture on
"Strategic Command in a VUCA
Environment." He emphasized that in
a world of volatility and uncertainty,
national leaders need three key skills:
strategic foresight, decisive action
under limited information, and unified
command, to safeguard national
interests. The simulation focused on a
challenging US-Iran crisis, a crucial
test for the Thai economy.
A key
highlight of the study tour was the
division of executives into Strategic
Command Teams to simulate a
national-level crisis. The main scenario
involved "military tensions between
the United States and Iran,"
directly impacting the Strait of Hormuz,
a vital artery for global trade and
energy.
Strategic analysts from
the Science and Technology Development
Agency (STA) and the CEO of CONNEXT
jointly assessed the potential impact on
Thailand in three key dimensions: 1. A
sudden surge in global oil prices due to
the closure of shipping routes; 2.
Accelerated inflation due to increased
transportation and raw material costs
across the system; and 3. Immense
pressure on the manufacturing and
logistics sectors, potentially leading
to an economic slowdown.
"A
single decision in this strategic
meeting could change the direction and
future of the country forever," was
a key lesson emphasized by the military
speakers, highlighting the importance of
prudence and proactive
planning.
At the end of the
event, an Executive Dialogue Forum was
held under the topic "The Role of
the Private Sector in National Strategic
Stability." This in-depth
discussion reflected that national
security today is not solely the
responsibility of the military, but a
coordinated effort between the
government, private sector, and
political parties to build a shared
shield against global risks.
This
training not only developed individual
skills but also built a network of
leaders ready to "conquer
crises" and guide Thailand through
all storms of change with
strength.
